GRANT COUNTY Wash. (NWNN) – Crews in Grant, Okanogan and Douglas counties are battling fires in the area of Grand Coulee dam leading to road closures and possible evacuations.

Grant County Sheriff’s office says a fire is active on the west side of the Columbia River near Coulee Dam and Grand Coulee.

Another wildfire is burning near Elmer City, which is in Okanogan County about five miles north of Coulee Dam.

According to WSP Trooper Brian Moore, State Route 155 is closed northbound at Grand Coulee and southbound at Elmer City. State Route 174 is also closed at SR155

They advise that residents in Grand Coulee, Coulee Dam and Elmer City areas need to remain aware of the fire conditions and stand by for any evacuation requests.
